I was going pretty swell there...and then payday happened. And then Steven's 3 day weekend happened (this is about the only time we see him).
Steven's new job has been a double-edged sword. We're able to support ourselves! (WE GOT OFF OF FOOD STAMPS! HOORAY! Yay for self reliance! It was a
lifesaver to have a way to feed our family when things got so tight. I'm glad
our taxes will be able to help another family out there who truly needs the
help...)
We hardly see Steven (awake). One day at a time, one day at a time...this job is a huge blessing... It's also caused a huge hiccup in our routine. I can't quite get into the swing of things yet....
On the nights Steven works, I find myself staying up until 3:00 or 4:00 in the morning, I sort of sleep until Steven gets home at 7:00, I sleep well until 9:00, then I get we get up and have breakfast, Steven helps me with the kids, and then goes back to sleep at 10:00. He wakes up at 3:30 in the afternoon, and leaves for work an hour later. And I seem to have way too much to do and not enough time to do it in--all the while trying to do it on maybe 3-4 hours of sleep! Each day I try to take it a little at a time...but I don't ever seem to completely accomplish an endeavor. We're extremely grateful to Steven for working and supporting us! It's awesome to be in that boat instead of the never-gonna-make-it boat. Pay day was a big day--we got a lovely big check--and swiftly came to the realization that if we were going to catch up on payments and start our journey towards paying off our credit card debt, we would barely have enough to go out on a date to Chik-Fil-A (they just opened one in Twin!) next week. Being an adult is also a double-edged sword. Friday was hard--those payments were a hard pill to swallow. It will get easier as we keep going.
Saturday was spent getting some things done around the house. Our sweet neighbors down the street stops by every two months or so and gives us some fresh produce! It's so kind of him and and his wife to think of us! He's the second counselor in the bishopric and gets me into trouble--if he starts crying during Sacrament Meeting, then I will start to as well...He's also the one who talked me into being the Primary Chorister. Which is going...well, so far. Steven climbed up in the attic above our carport and got down all of the totes so we could put then under the house. Cleaning, organizing, etc, etc. We then split our bounty of fruits and vegetables with our friends Craig and Erica! Erica and Cora (their cute new baby girl) came by, and we talked her into staying for dinner. Steven and I tucked the kiddos into bed and watched a few episodes of Crossing Jordan, which is my newest kick right now.
Sunday was busy, busy, busy! We went to church and jumped through all necessary hoops to try and get there on time, but alas, we were just 5 minutes late. I taught the primary the second verse of "I am a Child of God." It was fun. I gathered a few props from my house to teach them the words:
I am a Child of God
And so my needs [baby doll--babies have lots of needs] are great [held out my arms to show demonstrate great]
Help [a post-partum doughnut decorated to look like a life-saver tube...I didn't ever use it, but I figured it would be good for something...:)] me to understand [pointed to head] his words [Book of Mormon]
Before it grows [watering can] too late [clock].
Afterwards, we came home and quickly ate lunch. Then Steven dropped me and the kids off at the Crocketts so that I could visit with the wife while he went home teaching with the hubby. Good times. Lots and lots of noise while Louisa and I attempted to discuss home remedies and homeschooling...it was fun and we did successfully communicate over the noise!
My favorite new latest development:
I HAVE LOST 8 LBS! I'm amazed at what cutting portions and exiling snacking does. And cutting out juice, soda, and milk (just as a drink, not as an ingredient).
Woot, woot!
